We’re past the point of speaking out.

I would like for you to consider why the US constitution outlines free speech in its first amendment, and the right to bear arms in the second. The reason why is not that different than the principal of charity, or the social contract of tolerance. The first amendment outlines and sets speech, language, as the first step in challenging authority. But implicit in that principal, is the idea that governments are precluded from not listening, or not being available to that speech. It is literally in why the US constitution is structured the way it is, in putting limits and restraints on governments, not people.

We have devolved long past the point where free speech is respected by the US government, under any interpretation of the words.

The second, is an enshrining of the right to to the use of violence when the first is no longer being respected.

As awful as he is, I think he serves a good example of the opposite being true. It can serve as a warning.

“If we give any President this authority, someone like Donald Trump could use it if they ever got elected.”

Well, I look at this way.

Trump is going to fuck me and my family no matter what.

The only way Trump is not going to fuck you is if you make over $250k a year, are a white male adult, and are willing to kiss the ring.

Eventually I will be on that list of people to oppress/disappear because of who I am, not what I’ve done or will do. It’s more than likely you or your family members will be too.

Because while they start with the outspoken, when opposition is silenced, they will move on to crush the meek with a horrible glee. In the end, it won’t matter one whit to them what you do or say unless it gets in their way - it’s about what they want to do to you.

So let your inner Luigi roar. They’re coming for us anyway. You have a chance to speak NOW. Use it. They haven’t won yet, and they won’t if enough of us speak out.

Fight to you die. People will care a lot not when it escalates. You want them to show their colors as soon as possible fascism heavily depends on people slowly boiling alive until it’s already to late.

Not buying American products. Supporting political candidates that support Ukraine (that’s more relevant in other countries, in the UK support for Ukraine is pretty much universal even in the extreme right-wing parties, UK doesn’t like Russia).

Presumably you want me to charge the Bastille though.

First one, and this one is very important: be violent towards Nazis. If someone in your near vicinity talks nazi trash, punch them in their fucking faces. We will not tolerate their bullshit in our streets.

Secondly, keep yourself informed, to help keeping other people informed. Not about what the Trump governments latest distractions are, but about stuff like special elections, where Democrats have a chance of taking Republican seats. They just flipped a historically unopposed conservative Senate seat to be democrat.

And third, campaign for progressives who are trying to unseat “moderate” democrats who vote with republicans in America. I might never even set foot in America myself, but the consequences worldwide if trump successfully turns America fascist are insane.

Good for you, but as I already said I’m not American, I’m not in America, so I can’t vote in your elections and I can’t talk to republican voters because there aren’t any here. There are plenty of right-wing voters in the UK but they have completely different priorities to US Republicans, they’re not equivalent.

So what else can I do being so remote?

Dude I’m Danish. Plus, i never said anything about talking to Republican voters…

I talked about helping to keep the democratic voters informed about special elections where they have a chance to turn the power in government.

You can do that online no problem.

I did speak out already, back when I did not have to worry about being potentially murdered by the state (or at least not nearly as much) for it and voters were apparently were like “Eh lets give the fascist a second chance.”

Like, my level of resentment out weighs my desire to save the people in this country. And I already legitimately have always wanted to live forever (I know I wont, shut the fuck up), let alone not die early. I’m not sticking my head out for my skull to be crushed by a brown shirt after I already have done what I’ve done.

I was going to try and scrounge enough to flee to Canada what with a decent amount of savings, passport, and a Software Engineering degree but after some set backs related to my car dying and the job market imploding basically everywhere I’m now worried I might be fucking stuck here for a while. So now I’m mostly just focused on keeping my head down.

I might be misunderstanding your response, I voted, constantly (and annoyingly) advocated, and canvassed. I put my job at risk due to my efforts. I’ve cut off family as a result of my agitation.

My resentments are more generalized towards the country at large. But yeah, I can’t reasonably expect you to save me if the brown shirts are already on top of me, that’s not your burden to bare.
