    I wonder what it’s like to have an honest conversation with the dude behind the Trump persona, when he’s let his guard down and he’s sitting right next to the person he trusts most. I’m not sure what I’d expect. Maybe it’s an act, maybe he’s earnest. Does he know what he’s doing? He acts for the cameras pretty damn well.

      He likely has narcissistic personality disorder and so this is less an act and more a mask, a shield. The person he’s protecting the most is himself, he needs to be this facade.

      I found this video really quite fascinating about what it’s like caring for a dying narcissist. Whatever family that remains hold out hope that as death itself nears the narcissist might finally let down their guard and show their true self. Apparently the opposite happens.

        My personal experience is that, the person they are is the one on display when they are angry, and often in other situations too. There is no hidden (nice) personality, just a very shallow egocentric scared one. IMO.

        Source: grew up with one.

      I think that person is long gone tbh. Maybe you could have that type of conversation with him in the 80’s and 90’s but not today. Money and power consume his thoughts so any topic you bring up he’ll revert to money and power.

      The guy is a psychopath without any empathy. I don’t think there’s much difference between media persona and reality here. Someone who acts so immorally can only be a bad person. There can be no excuses for this.

      I mean, is anyone interested in who Hitler actually was? Does it matter at all? Maybe for pathological psychology, but little else really.

      In any case, anything but a pleasant conversation partner, I would say. Especially because his hatred and his excessive stupidity are definitely not an act.

      I think you give him too much credit.

        I mean, if you covered his face, he’d look like a 3-4y/o who likely needs their parents to dress them.

        On a side note, a lot of older men either lose track of where their waist is or pull their pants up to try to hide their overhanging belly. It’s mostly people from a generation that always wore pants with the waistline at or above the navel

      Grant fucking Imahara from Mythbusters died from an undiagnosed and shock aneurysm at 49. Someone who was an actual genius and had a lot to still give to the world
